Roses have been used as beauty ingredients for centuries now. There are legends about the kings and queens bathing with rose water and applying it on to face. There are few simple techniques you can use rose water in beauty recipes.

  1. Healthy skin pack To a two tsp of Sandalwood powder, add a tsp of rose petal paste (fresh), a tsp of honey.Apply this to face.Wait for 20 mins before washing with lukewarm water.
  2. Facial cleanser :This too is a very simple remedy.To two tsp of rose water, add a tsp of cucumber juice. Dip a cotton ball in it and gently wipe face.
  3. For rough body skin Take a bowl of rose water , two tsp of honey.Apply this to whole body. Leave for 10 mins before washing with lukewarm water.
  4. For tired eyes :Place a bowl of rose water in fridge with a tsp of mint juice.Keep it in refrigerator for 15 mins.Dip a cotton ball in it and gently apply it to the eye area.

    Take cotton pads dipped in this mixture apply over eyes and rest for 15 mins

  5. Skin Brightening packTo two tsp of tomato pulp, add a tsp of papaya pulp, a tsp of rose petal paste (fresh) and tsp of honey.Apply this to face and Leave for 10 mins . Wash it off with lukewarm water.

4 Home remedies for beautiful elbows

We all take lot of care for face, hands , feet. But elbows are neglected most. Black rough elbows might be problematic, especially for those who spend their time resting elbows on some surface.

Follow these awesome tips for beautiful, soft elbows.

  1. Curd + Almond powder

    Add a half spoon of almond powder to a spoonful curd.

    Make a paste.

    Massage this paste on elbows for 5 mins.

    Leave that mixture on elbows for 10 mins and then wash.

    Alternative…

  1. b) Curd + Besan

    You can use besan for the same above plan.

  2. Lemon and sugarhome remedies for itchy scalp

    This is one pretty simple recipe.

    Cut the lemon into half, you need only one half.

    Add some brown sugar ( or whatever sugar you have) to the inside of cut piece.

    Rub this on the rough elbow skin.

    This helps as a scrub to smooth down the skin and also to whiten the skin on elbows.

  3. Turmeric

    Take some raw milk, add a pinch of turmeric to it.

    Apply this to the effected part as a pack and leave for 15 mins.

    Do this regularly for great results.

    b) To a pinch of turmeric, add a pinch of sandalwood powder, spoonful rose water.

    Apply this on elbows and wait for 15 mins before washing.

  4. Massage

    with alovera gel ( You can use a stem directly) or coconut oil daily twice if the problem is worse.

4 Home remedies for soft and smooth hands

For women it is always a challenge to maintain beauty of hands. Say it cooking, washing or even driving can make the skin of hands rough and dry. Here are 4 home remedies to help achieving soft and smooth ‘beauty soap ad wale’ hands. ( Remember the hand which applies soap in commercials)

 

1.To two spoons of lemon juice, add 2 spoons of honey. Apply this mixture to hands after washing. Wash after another 20 mins. Follow with a moisturizer or hand cream.

2.This mixture can be stored. Add equal amounts of glycerine, olive oil and lemon juice in a bottle. Store this in refrigerator. Apply this mixture twice daily to hands and gently massage.

This will give good amount of moisture and glow to the skin.

3. Make a liquid with equal amounts of lemon juice, coconut oil and rose water. Apply this to hands daily before sleep.

4. To one spoon of vinegar, add two spoons of  honey. Apply this to hands and wash it after half an hour. Follow with a moisturizer or hand cream

Use these remedies regularly without fail.

4 Coconut oil home remedies

Hello friendsss!! Hope you are enjoying a fun filled weekend.

It has been many days since I wrote  any D.I.Y post and my friends started asking for one.

So here are the 4 coconut oil home remedies for healthy and glowing hair. Coconut oil is kind of a boon to hair. If you have no time for any beauty recipe or even if you don’t have patience enough for those things, a simple coconut oil can help you with good hair.

  1. Hair fall

    Mix 2 tsp of coconut oil with 2tsp honey. Apply this to scalp and wait for an hour. Shampoo thoroughly after an hour.

  2. Pack for hair fall

    To coconut oil, add Olive oil. Also add 2tsp curd and a tsp honey. Apply this to scalp and wait for an hour before washing it off.

  3. Dandruff

    Take some coconut oil in a bowl and add few neem leaves. Heat them till the leaves become slightly dark. Apply this mixture to scalp regularly. You can find other home remedies with Neem here .

  4. Dandruff 2

    To 3tsp of coconut oil, add a tsp  lemon juice. Apply this to scalp. Use it once in 15 days. Over using this method might dry the hair.

5 Papaya home remedies

This post was due a week back, but I was in a mild depression and had hectic work. Went through a brief phase of ‘ Blogger’s block’. Not that I had nothing to write, I was not in mood to write.

Coming back to the post, Papaya is my one of the fav fruits. It is rich in Vit A and Papain which are good for skin.

 

1.Papaya scrub.

Paste Papaya, add a pinch of rice flour and half spoon honey. This scrub helps the skin in brightening.

2. Papaya acne pack

To a spoonful Papaya paste, add a pinch of basil leaves powder and spoonful raw milk. Apply it to face and wash it in 15 mins.

3. Papaya moisturizing face pack.

To a table spoon Papaya paste, add a spoonful aloe vera paste, half spoon honey. Mix them into a thick paste. Apply and wash it after 10 mins.

4. Papaya skin lightening face pack.

To Papaya paste, add spoonful lemon juice, a pinch of moong dal powder.
After application, wait till it gets completely dry.
Use this twice a week for a lighter and even skin tone.

5. Papaya anti aging face pack.

Break egg, separate egg white. Add it to Papaya paste. Mix well till it becomes even in consistency.
Apply the mixture and wash it after 20 mins.
Use regularly twice a week to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

4 Oily skin packs for Summer

Hi, friends… so summer is almost here and my super oily skin started producing oil like crazy. I started using ‘summer skin packs ‘ for my skin. I wanted to share few for you.

Oily skin packs

Sandalwood pack:

Sandalwood works miraculously in summers. It helps in soothing the skin and body in the hot summers. The pack is simple just add a spoonful rosewater to a pinch of sandalwood powder. Then apply all over your face and neck. Just relax and wait for 15 mins before washing.

Multhani mitti/fuller’s earth pack

Multhani mitti /fuller’s earth is a boon to oily skin. You can make many kinds of skin packs with it. The simple one I use (almost every day) s adding few drops of lemon water, spoonful honey to fuller’s earth.

Eggwhite

It is another simple face pack. Simply apply egg white all your face and tolerate that smell for 15 mins. Using this pack twice weekly helps the skin to control excess oil production.

Milk/Turmeric

Raw milk is another thing to help you. Take a spoonful raw milk and add pinch of turmeric to apply all over face and neck. This will help in preventing infections and acne in summers.

4 Step home pedicure for winter to summer feet.

Hello beauties !!!!!!!  My skin is struggling to survive the winters . My busy schedule ( with frequent changes ) makes me forget by oil bath on few days & i do not remember to apply lotion until I spot dry feet .(By that time I will already be in Hospital ).

Now the seson is in changing mode and I am experiencing both dry , dull  skin along with tan.

So i have been following this 4 step  pedicure regimen whenever i get time ( at least once a week ) to protect my neglected feet. This is very simple and with basic ingredients.

1.Cleanse

Soak foot in lukewarm water with 1 tsp honey and baking soda.Soak for 20 mins ,this will ease your pains , will remove odors and dirt.

2.Scrub

Massage with mixture of 3tsp rice flour, ,1tsp apple cider vinegar,1/2 tsp honey.Massage for 5 mins.

3.Pack

Make a mixture of 1tsp curd with 1tsp tomato juice .If this is too runny to apply on feet you can add besan.

4.Moisturize

Apply olive oil + lemon juice/sesame oil to feet wear socks and sleep .

Winter Body scrub

Hello everyone !!  Still in new year hang over ? I have an exam so had to come out . Few of my besties are going to get married in next few months and i decided to do some special series to help them . I am starting with the body scrub.

This is a very basic body scrub which is a very common practice at our place . I used this daily throughout my childhood winters. In fact everyone of my family did.Few more ingredients  To the basic scrub  ,i added few more ingredients to make it special bridal scrub.

You need …

Equal amounts of

Besan (Gram flour)      -Acts as a natural soap to cleanse the oil and dirt

Orange peel powder ( You can buy  Banjara’s peel powder or you can make at home by drying orange peel and powdering them )                        – Gives a fresh feeling and helps with body odors.

Turmeric                     – do i need to tell that it gives a natural glow and brightness to the skin ,helps to remove tan.

Rice flour                   – Exfoliates the skin and helps remove tan.

 

Decide the quantity yourself ,if kept dry this mixture lasts for 2 months.

Procedure :

  • Mix   1 part of olive oil to 3 parts of any other oil ( Any thick oil will do).
  • You can add any essential oil to make it better.
  • Massage gently .
  • Let that settle for  a 10 minutes .
  • Take the above mixture in a small bowl ,add milk or rose water to it.
  • Massage the powder ( take time ).
  • Skip  soap ( except for necessary areas )
  • Wash with lukewarm water.
  • Do this at least twice a week for glowing skin.

I do a besan ,oil massage on daily basis and believe me i use body lotions only  occasionally .It keeps my skin soft and supple.

Pack 1

  • Grate half of coconut , strain the grated product in a cotton cloth ( or whatever you can work with ) .You will get coconut milk.
  • Add spoonful honey to it .
  • Apply the mixture to hair including scalp.
  • Wait for 30 mins then wash hair.
  • This pack has both anti inflammatory and conditioning properties which are effective for dandruff and dull hair.

Pack 2

  • Take one ripe banana and make it into a paste.
  • Add one egg white and a tsp olive oil to it.
  • Apply to hair ,wait for 30mins.
  • Shampoo carefully to completely wash the mixture from hair.

Pack 3

  • Take half cup curd.
  • Add one egg white and 3 tsp lemon juice to it.
  • Apply to scalp and wash after 30 mins .
  • This pack helps with dandruff and makes hair shiny.

PACK 4

  • Squeeze four strawberries into a thick paste.
  • Add 2 tsp curd to it .
  • Apply this to hair and wait for 20 mins before washing.
  • This is specially useful for greasy scalp.

Oats have natuaral amino acids and vitamin E which help maintain the balance and beauty of the skin. Oats can remove the superficial dead skin cells and leave the the skin healthy and glowing .

Here are 3 amazing oat face packs…. All of them work as scrub as well as a pack.
You can use Oatmeal powder if available otherwise you can just soak oats into a paste.

Dry skin :

1. Add 1 tsp Honey & 2 tsp milk to 2 tsp oat meal powder.
2. Apply the paste on face & massage in outward movements for 5 mins.
3. Wait for 15 minutes before washing with lukewarm water.

Oily skin :

1. Add 2 tsp of Tomato pulp to 2 tsp of Oatmeal powder.
2. Massage skin for 5 minutes and let the paste stay on face for 15 more minutes.
3. Wash with lukewarm water.
Tomatoes help reducing the oil & also help with blackheads.

Acne prone :

1. To 2 tsp Oatmeal powder add a spoonful lemon juice and honey.
2. Massage twice a week before washing off with lukewarm water.
