Hi gals, how doing ? It took almost a week for me to come back right ???This time i am here with another ‘healthy’ post. The very second thing i do after waking up is drinking warm  water with lemon ( first is of course brushing). It actually helps me in many ways. Here are my top 5 reasons.

1. Preparing the resting digestive system.

After a 8 hr rest warm lemon water is the best thing to start your digestive functions with . It is more desirable for body than caffeinated drinks. Other thing though not  given anywhere , is that it helps with constipation.

2. Clear skin

It helps maintaining a healthy , glowing skin. It eliminates the toxic things which harm the skin. It boosts the recycling of skin’s cells.

3.Clearing mind

I do not know how many others will agree with me ,but it helps clear my otherwise cloudy ‘early morning’ brain. Mind you this is not given anywhere.

4.Boost metabolism.

Boosting metabolism is the loveliest word i have ever come across . This means losing calories . Wow does not it sound great . It is controversial whether to add honey with lemon water for this purpose . But AYURVEDA says ( or RAMDEV BABA says)honey and lemon water combo early in the morning will help in weight reduction.

Hello pretty friends , I am back . Many people have requested me to write posts about many things but this is one of the most requested .So I decided to do a series of posts on it to get you some help. In the first post I am going to discuss the most common reasons for hair loss .

It is normal to lose 50-100 strands daily . Start hyperventilating only if you are losing handful of it .

I thought i would not be able to write this post today. But Indian railway & God worked hand in hand to make my train become  8 hrs late after the scheduled time. So i began writing without wasting time. When i wrote about weight loss , my friend’s brother asked me to write about weight gain too . Obesity is a big problem to the world right now, but there are people who actually struggle to survive when we increase fan’s speed beyond 3.

Cheese has high amount of fat and calories.Which is also an alternative to egg for vegans. It gives 370 cal/100 gms . It also provides  high amount of calcium.

VEGETABLES

Vegetables like Potatoes, Beetroots, Carrots have high level of carbs .They give you needed calories.

FRUITS

Fruits like banana, mango have high amount of carbohydrates . Make sure to eat ripe fruits as they have more refined sugars . Refined carbs will give you more calories compared to same weight of complex carbs.

Banana gives 85-100 cal & rich in potassium , magnesium , Vit B6, C.

Mangoes give 60-70 cal / 100gms , rich inVit A, C, B6

PASTA

In addition to being tasty pasta has many calories in it . Choose a creamy pasta recipe which gives you fat along with carbohydrates.It gives 360-400 cal/ 100gm.

CHOCOLATE MILK

This is a yummy way to get weight in my opinion . It provides  210 cal / 1 cup. Ohhhhh my mouth started watering.

DRY FRUITS

Cashews have 550 cal/ 100 gms. Kismis has 300 cal / 100gms. Grabing these frequently helps you.

I came across an article a few days ago in a reputed paper about how we are eating too much of crap that’s known to cause cancer. I was simply shocked coz most of them were my favorite foods. So I wanted to share that information with u people ,but before that I had to a lot of research to make this post genuine. I ended up reading articles in various magazines health websites for 3-4 he’s today. So here I am with the list of things. I reduced scientific terms as much as possible. Get ready for the shock.

FAST-FOOD

This is just a random list not in order of priority.

1.HIGHLY PROCESSED FLOUR.

The  flour which looks so white & so good is not good at all. The processing contains of bleaching with chlorine gas. These foods are a reason for obesity, diabetes , cancer.

2.MICROWAVED POPCORN.

Not every type but the microwaved popcorn is dangerous. The bags in which this kind of popcorn contain a chemical called PFOA. This is responsible for infertility in women & multiple cancers.

3. ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS.

When artificial sweeteners came to the market there were instantly popular among diabetics & fitness freaks. But recent researches have shown them to be carcinogens. So next time u see the label ‘sugar free’ or ‘ diet ‘ on it never fall for it. All the sugar free things contain artificial sweeteners.

 

4.REFINED SUGAR.

Excess of refined sugar is also a risk. Sugar is like a ‘biryani ‘ to cancer cells & microbes.

It’s a sad discovery for me . I love potato chips sooooo much. I almost started crying when I found out this thing. Potato chips & fries again have high amount of sodium , trans fat ,calories.

8.DIET FOODS.

I have mentioned them in artificial sweeteners but again they also have refined ingredients. In a journal I read that they are also risk factors for brain stroke.

9.CANNED FOOD.

Canned food has high amounts of preservatives. Some of the preservatives melt down the can material which has something called BP-A. This chemical is known to be dangerous. Especially canned tomatoes are at high danger because of high acidity.

10.HYDROGENATED OIL.

Or vanaspathi Once very famous in most homes it has lost popularity these days yet some are using it as an alternative to ghee.

They have artificial colors, chemicals. One research said if you are taking more than two servings of frizzy drinks a week, you are 80% more at risk of gastrointestinal cancers.( god what would i drink in future).

I know how do you feel to know that even the foods that are labeled most healthy known to cause diseases.

Please guys do not look at me like that.  The pesticides they are using these days & the chemicals used to artificially ripen fruits are culprits. They won’t go away with simple washes. The foods which are most contaminated are apples,grapes, oranges, potatoes, strawberries.

13.FAST FOOD.

Most of the fast food outlets ( around the world) use pre used oil which high amounts of hydrogenated oil trans fat. They also have high amount of sodium.

Please do not freak out . Just watch what you eat. Lessen the servings of unhealthy food.

Hi friends , I am back .TO tell you truth I am very much delighted with the response of first post on weight loss. So here I am with few more tips.

11.NO LATE NIGHT DINNERS.

I remember my childhood when everyone used to eat by 8 pm, sleep by 9 pm. Life has changed a lot say it’s the serials or work or parties or anything , the dinner time of most of the people has shifted to 10 pm. Avoid dinner after 8pm .Keep a time difference of 3hrs between dinner and sleep. If by any chance you start feeling hungry again drink a cup of milk. You can even take a spoonful honey.( My father swears by it)

12ADD COLOUR TO YOUR PLATE

No, I am not asking you to make your plate look beautiful. By adding color to plate you are adding nutrition. You are eating more of veggies, leafy vegetables ,fruits and less of white products like white rice, white bread.

13 WHOLE IS BEST

Try to eat more whole foods like brown rice ,whole breads than refined foods. Whole foods tend to have more of fibre & complex carbs which will yield less calories .They also make you feel fuller with less quantity of  food.

14.GO FOR RAW

If you can actually something in uncooked raw state just go for it. Foods like carrots ,tomatoes ,beet roots ,cucumber can be tried. This will preserve their nutritive values and also lessen the extra calories by adding oil or other ingredients to them.

15. NEGATIVE IS POSITIVE

Our body spends some calories during digestion. There are some foods which require more calories to digest them than they actually give to the body. These are called NEGATIVE CALORIE foods.

By eating them you actually burn more calories than you eat. I will discuss about them in future post.

This season as every year is going to be a wedding season in india. That  actually means that you are going to face a lot of oily and tasty foods. Resisting them could be impossible( I must confess too ).So whenever you are going a kind of wedding or party or even restaurant take a plate full of salad first. This will prevent you from taking too much of sweets or oily foods.

17.GREEN TEA

Replace your daily tea or coffee intake with green tea. It will save a lot of calories .Believe me , I know its not easy. Start with tea bags then switch to tea powder. I am planning to make an entire post just about green tea.

18.ICE COLD WATER

No , I am not telling you about water again just for the count. I am telling you to drink ice cold water in place of normal water unless you have tonsils,sore throat ,nose block , sinuse problem or sensitive teeth. Our body spends some calories to get ice cold water to our body temperature .

19.SLEEP WELL

A good sleeps helps our body regulate and maintain its normal balance. Which is crucial for weight loss journey.

20.GET CHECKED

Sometimes , sudden weight gain could be due to hormonal problems like HYPOTHYROIDISM , PCOD. This weight gain gets corrected by correcting the problems. So get checked , if you have doubts.

WeightlossLose weight now is a prime concern of as much as 75-80% of adults these days.Everyone actually knows that this mainly requires balanced diet & exercise. But seriously who has time ? Or even if we have time who can bend bodies to get slimmer. This is what I usually think. So if you are as lazy as me, these tips might help you.

But,let me remind you something, these tips work as a door to your healthy lifestyle. They can not produce dramatic results, whatever. Sooooo let’s get started.

This is a fact known to everyone & also ignored by everyone. Drink 2.5 –  3 ltrs of water daily. If you do not drink enough water , your body goes into something called “water saving mode” to retain more water in the body which can make you look fat.

2. After brushing in the morning drink a glass of warm water with lemon in it.During sleep our body will reduce it’s functions to a subnormal level & metabolism is low.With this glass of water you are actually boosting your metabolism.

The common mistake done by most people. Never think that if you are skipping a meal ,you are going to consume less calories & thereby you can reduce weight. But the result is quite opposite. When you skip any meal you are going to eat heavily in the next meal ,your body will also convert most of the energy into fat.

4.WATER AGAIN

Take a bottle of water wherever you go. Believe water bottle to be your coolest accessory. Most of the times when you feel hungry, you might just be thirsty. So, drink a glass of water before you decide to eat something.

5. DITCH FRIZZY DRINKS & SODAS.

Especially there are plain calories without any nutrition in them.

They are pretty addictive too. Instead choose healthy alternatives like coconut water ,fresh sugar less fruit juice.

Manufacturers have their own ways of selling their products. One of them is labelling ” fat free/0% trans fat/sugar free”. Do not fall for them. Fat free doesn’t mean it has less calories . Sugar free products contain artificial sweeteners which are toxic & can even be carcinogenic.

6.  Dont get annoyed by me for mentioning water again & again. It’s such an important element of the body. Drink a glass of water 15 – 30 mins before each meal ,which helps you consume less food.

7.EAT FREQUENTLY NOT CONTINUOUSLY.

If you have a habit of munching something through out the day ,stop yourself. On the other hand eat at frequent intervals of 2-3 hrs. Never starve body.If you starve it ,it will take revenge by storing more fat from the next meal. This is a proven fact.

8.KEEP SOME HEALTHY SNACK WITH YOU .

No matter where you go just try to keep some healthy food in bag. Like a banana or apple or carrot or cucumber. If you don’t have anything healthy with you ,you will most probably end up buying some unhealthy stuff like chips or soft drinks.

9. SLOW EATING IS THE KEY.

Do not rush with food. Try to eat slowly sensing it’s taste. Chewing each bite 20-30mins is advised. There is a logic eating slowly helps you achieve your satiety earlier so you no longer feel hungry to eat . It also helps in digestion.

10.SMALL PLATE HELPS.

It might seem a joke when I say eating in a small plate helps. But it really does. It tricks your brain to think that you are actually having a heavy meal. So the brain decides to stop eating.

10 WAYS TO HELP YOU FIGHT WITH DARK CIRCLES

Skin around the eyes is extremely thin ( 0.5 mm compared to the 2mm skin on entire face) which makes it a mirror to the underlying changes.Here are some of the ways to help you to prevent & reduce dark circles. WE already know reasons for dark circles .

2.STOP WEEPING

Stop too much crying or vigorous rubbing of eyes for the sake of your own eyes, if not for other reasons.

Sleeping-girlSound sleep can be the single most important solution for many problems.If can not solve, at least it can make us forget those problems temporarily. It helps the mind & body to revive from various stress factors.

Make a habit of sleeping at regular intervals, you can see the difference yourself.

4.RESIST

Do not indulge yourself in too much of caffeine.Stay away from smoke & smoking persons.Alcohol is also a “no, no”.

5. WORKAHOLISM PAYS

This is not just a problem of software professionals. all the youngsters are literally addicted to gadgets.

I know there is no way we can escape from this.But we can always take some precautions.

  1. Reduce extreme brightness & glare in the surroundings.
  2. Blink often.( DO NOT STARE THE SCREEN)
  3. look away every 20 mins ,look at a distant object for 20 secs.
  4. Take frequent breaks.
  5. Give intermittent cool compressions to eyes.( i do this once every 4 hrs ,believe me it really helps.)

Choose a green wallpaper or keep your surroundings green.Green colour is said to reduce the strain on eyes.

6.EAT RIGHT

Eat food rich in vitamins A,C,E. Make sure to include fresh fruits,veggies,sprouts ,lentils ,yogurt in the diet.

Drink plenty of water.

7.DE “STRESS”  YOURSELF

Do some breathing exercises ( i prefer pranayama ). They help in reducing stress and they also improve circulation.

8.EYE CREAMS

For thinning of skin -Use a collagen containing cream.

For vascular issues -Use cream with green tea / caffeine /grape seed extracts.

9 HOME REMEDIES

i already discussed some home remedies to help you with dirty circles.One simplest technique i use daily is to apply drops of almond oil to eye area before sleeping .You can use coconut oil instead. But be gentle , do not massage with pressure.

Rose water can do wonders too. Take some drops of rose water on cotton and apply to eye area.

Face wash is the most important part of our skin care routine. The biggest mistake most busy girls make is to take this step for granted.That could make your skin react badly and yourself repent badly. Using suitable temperature is equally important. In the first step use lukewarm to warm water ,it helps to loosen up the dirt settled in pores. Follow it with facial cleanser. In the end splash some cold water.Make sure the water is not extremely hot.That makes skin dry.

5.No rough job.

Do not ever be rough with face.Face has very sensitive skin which gets irritated by rubbing vigorously.Before applying soap to face ,make rich lather with your hands.

6.Follow directions

Start with forehead proceed to cheeks ,gently massage with outward circles . End with chin and neck.

7.Take time

Do not rush .Take time to massage for minimum of 30 sec-1 min.

8.Don’t forget makeup .

Make sure to remove make up with remover because face wash is not enough for removing all the make up.Make up residue in the skin leads to baaaaaa…..d breakout.

I’m sure everyone of u have baking soda in   water.Gently massage for 2-3 mins. Make sure to be gentle because it could be harsh.I do not advice this to people with sensitive skin. I used it with some success.

4.Cinnamon + Lemon

Take some spoonful of cinnamon powder ,mix with same amount of lemon juice. Apply over the affected areas .Try to cope with the tingling or even slight burning sensation for 10-15 mins.Wash it.

Use at least twice a week.

5.Yummy Tomato

It is quiet simple.Take one tomato , cut it into half .Eat one half. Yeah , really i asked u to eat.

Now take the other half and rub on your face for 5 mins.Then let that become dry for  a while & wash it.I use it almost every other day.Try it, if it can not help you with blackheads at least it reduces greasiness of face.

6. Lemon & Honey

This is the most amazing ,simple & multi purpose face pack. It works amazingly for blackheads too.Only problem is u need to resist yourself from licking your face

7. Turmeric & mint.

Take some leaves of mint juice them or paste it.Add some turmeric to it. You can use this all over face.This gives a very good feeling to face.Wait for 10 mins.In addition to help with blackheads it also brightens the skin

8. EGG White        White_chicken_egg

Egg produces excellent results both inside & outside the body. Egg white does many things to face and one of them is fighting blackheads. For the next 15 mins ,if u are like me ,close your nose.

9. Oatmeal

If u do not have oatmeal  in powdered form use boiled & mashed oats instead. Take a spoonful of oatmeal then add honey.

Use this mixture as a scrub for 2-3 mins.Then keep it for 10 mins as a face  mask.Use twice a week for a 4 weeks for visible results.

10.Tone it up.

use this toner regularly to reduce & prevent blackheads.

Take 1/4th cup of apple cider vinegar add 3/4 th cup of green tea (cooled down ,of course).

This will give a cupful of toner .Keep it in refrigerator & u can use it for 1 week.
