It has been many days since I wrote  any D.I.Y post and my friends started asking for one.

So here are the 4 coconut oil home remedies for healthy and glowing hair. Coconut oil is kind of a boon to hair. If you have no time for any beauty recipe or even if you don’t have patience enough for those things, a simple coconut oil can help you with good hair.

  1. Hair fall

    Mix 2 tsp of coconut oil with 2tsp honey. Apply this to scalp and wait for an hour. Shampoo thoroughly after an hour.

  2. Pack for hair fall

    To coconut oil, add Olive oil. Also add 2tsp curd and a tsp honey. Apply this to scalp and wait for an hour before washing it off.

  3. Dandruff

    Take some coconut oil in a bowl and add few neem leaves. Heat them till the leaves become slightly dark. Apply this mixture to scalp regularly. You can find other home remedies with Neem here .

  4. Dandruff 2

    To 3tsp of coconut oil, add a tsp  lemon juice. Apply this to scalp. Use it once in 15 days. Over using this method might dry the hair.

Along with everyone i too am entirely depressed this monsoon . August seemed to bring some happy moments with rains but that lasted for only few days. Hyderabad is actually getting some occasional ‘peak a boo’ kind of rains . Still you need to take care of your hair in the monsoon .

1.WASH IT

This season do not wash your hair too frequent  but make sure you wash it when you soak in rain to avoid infections.

Add vinegar to water before the final rinse.

 2 .DANDRUFF IS A RISK

Especially if you are exposed to rains frequently. There are chances that you might feel itchy in the scalp . Start using an Anti Dandruff shampoo in that case. Otherwise use a mild shampoo without much chemicals.

3.CONDITIONER IS A MUST

This season hair becomes frizzy and puffy easily . Do not forget a conditioner after you wash your hair . Use it from below the level of your ear. Using conditioner on the scalp can increase the risk of dandruff.

4.MILD PRODUCTS

Avoid dumping too many chemicals on your hair like sparys ,gels and colors  .Use mild hair care products.

5.OILING YOUR HAIR

Hot oil therapy once in while helps your keep up with the changing weather. However, avoid oiling before going out can be risky ,in case you get wet. The mixture of oil+ sweat+rain makes a tasty seat for infections.

6.GO SIMPLE

Monsoon is a tricky season. You can not leave your hair loose. There are chances that you might end up like Courteney Cox from her famous  Friends episode. If you go out with a complicated braid or bun and get damp ,it will get hours to get your hair dry. (Even thinking about it is giving me headache). So choose simple hairstyles like pony or some uncomplicated braids.

7.AVOID RUBBING

Rubbing your hair after a wash increases the risk of it getting frizzy. Instead try simply patting your hair with towel.

8.USE SOME SERUM

Use some serum at the ends of hair to reduce the risk of frizzing.

9.CLEAN COMB

Clean the comb once every week to reduce the risk of infections. Soak it in water with an anti-septic liquid in it before washing.

I am not done just with 10 basic hair care tips . I want to add few more hair care tips to the  list…..

1.DO NOT TIE HARD

I have mentioned in other  post as well that you should never braid your hair very tight. That will give instant discomfort and hair loss.

2.COMB VERTICALLY

No , do not comb vertically upwards .Divide your hair into 4 or 5 horizontal sections . Start from combing lowest section first . This way you can make your hair tangle free and reduce hair loss and a lot of pain .

3.CLEAN COMB

For hair care ,you need comb care too ..Do not share your comb with anyone and clean your comb often to avoid scalp infections and dandruff.

4.HEAT STYLES

It looks and feels very good to have that sleek straight hair or those romantic beach curls. But if you are going to use heat tools too often ,remember , it is not the safe bet.

5.WATER QUALITY

Hard water makes hair dry. Water with too much chlorine  in it , like that in swimming pools leaves hair damaged . So never forget to apply loads of ‘leave in’ conditioner before jumping into a pool or sea water .

6.TRIM OFTEN

Trim once every 3-4 months to avoid split ends and hair breakage .

7. EAT RIGHT

No matter how it starts ,but every health post of mine ends with the importance of eating correct quality and quantity of food. Proper food is the first step for proper hair care.

Hello pretty friends , I am back . Many people have requested me to write posts about many things but this is one of the most requested .So I decided to do a series of posts on it to get you some help. In the first post I am going to discuss the most common reasons for hair loss .

It is normal to lose 50-100 strands daily . Start hyperventilating only if you are losing handful of it .

1.TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM

Do not get scared I will explain you in simple words . It’s a post traumatic hair loss . This thing happens after a phase of an extremely stressful event like high grade fever , some surgery, pregnancy ,rapid weight loss . This may happen between 6 weeks – 3 months of stressful event .But by the end of 6-8 months it should stop . Otherwise        ” time to meet a doctor ”.

2 . EMOTIONAL STRESS

Unlike the physical stress emotional stress has less capacity to produce hair fall . but nonetheless it can. Divorce ,death of a dear one or extreme work can do many things .

3 .DEFICIENCIES

If you have deficiencies of protein , B complex & D vitamins , iron , Zinc  , you are prone to develop hair loss . Good thing is it is usually reversible .

4 .OVERFLOW Vit A

I know it I really annoying to know that vitamins can also cause hair loss . But then  ” too much of good can be bad”  sometimes. This condition is called hypervitaminosis of vitamin A.

This begins as a receding hair line . This is the most common type seen in men .Genes & male harmones are main culprits .

6 .FEMALE PATTERN BALDNESS

The pattern mainly has thinning of entire scalp rather than hairline & temples as in men. It is one of the most common causes of hair loss in women.

It is an impulsive hair pulling . Amount of hair loss is directly proportional to the amount of force applied . ( I remember a girl from hostel days . She one day sat in darkness with handfuls of hair in each hand. When we switched on the lights at dinner time , two girls fainted on seeing her).

A QUICK HAIR MASK FOR HEALTHY HAIR

Hello friends, welcome again. This is a requested post again. I wanted to do this post morning itself ,but I was in some mess. I am going to travel this weekend , I had to make some arrangements & all of a sudden my phone refuses to work. So I had to wait till this time to write.

Most of my friends know that my hair though never long , is healthy. I always have had silky hair but for the past few years i started to get split ends. I don’t get them anymore ,because of my hair care routine which I will tell you in an other post . For now I will tell you about an amazing hair mask which is multipurpose.

All you need to do is to take

  1. 1or 2 bananas ( depends on hair length) – they moisturise hair,give smoothness & nourishment.
  2. Spoonful virgin coconut oil. -In addition to smoothness it helps with dandruff too .
  3. Honey – has antibacterial & emollient properties.
  4. Add all of the ingredients in mixer ( or blender whatever)
  5. Take the smooth paste into a bowl.
  6. Just apply it.
  7. Wait for 30 mins. I wait for 1 hr usually cause there is no harm in it.
  8. Wash it with shampoo.

Few tips

  • Wear some old dress while applying.
  • Use shower cap while waiting.
  • It’s better to wash hair twice with shampoo to remove all the residue.
